Mel Lindauer

Veteran Marine Mel Lindauer helped write “The Bogleheads’ Guide to Investing” with co-authors Taylor Larimore and Michael LeBoeuf. The book expands on the advice of the late John C. Bogle, who had called Lindauer “The Prince of the Bogleheads.” This author’s role in the Bogleheads’ online forum is both a leader and a moderator.

Lindauer has been investing with Bogle-inspired methods since the 1960s. Besides investing, he also founded and ran a Philadelphia-area graphic design company until 1997. Not one to slow down after retirement, he then earned the titles of Certified Fund Specialist and Wealth Management Specialist from two career colleges.

Plus, in 2016 he ran for and won a seat on the city council in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, where he and his wife, Marlene, now reside. In 2020, he was then elected for the role of Vice Mayor. He is also licensed to fly commercial planes and teach others to fly them.
