Thomas J. Stanley was arguably the world’s foremost expert on millionaires. His books, including “The Millionaire Next Door” and “The Millionaire Mind,” spent more than three years combined on bestsellers’ lists. He published over 40 articles in journals and the news, and he was a frequent guest on numerous talk shows.
Outside of his writing, Dr. Stanley also chaired the Affluent Market Institute, where he helped to research strategies for marketing to wealthy clientele. At another research company, called DataPoints, he served as Chief Advisor for two years. He also taught and researched for 20 years at Georgia State University.
Dr. Stanley grew up in a working-class family in New York City. He attended a few state colleges as a student, where he began studying self-made millionaires. He was working with his daughter, Sarah Stanley Fallaw, on “The Next Millionaire Next Door” when his life and work were tragically cut short by a drunk driver.
