Tom Rath is an author who also fills the roles of Senior Scientist and Advisor at Gallup, a global company that specializes in analytics and advice. His writing life has intersected with his work life with bestsellers “StrengthsFinder 2.0,” “Strengths Based Leadership,” “Wellbeing,” and “How Full Is Your Bucket?” Each book builds on Gallup’s research.
This author also studies health and disease prevention. His interest in those areas stems from his diagnosis with Von Hippel–Lindau disease at 16 years old. That condition makes him more susceptible to cancer, so he uses sleep, movement, and nutrition to fight back, as described in “Eat Move Sleep: How Small Choices Lead to Big Changes.”
Rath is the grandson of Donald O. Clifton, the psychological researcher who pioneered what would become Gallup’s StrengthsFinder assessment. Thus, it is unsurprising that so much of Rath’s life and work involves that company. His wife, Ashley, works as a reading specialist.
