Simplicity is the name of the game in “The Power Of Less: The Fine Art of Limiting Yourself to the Essential” by Leo Babauta. This book breaks down what it takes to meet any and all of your goals. A huge aspect of that process is found in only taking on one major goal at a time. Limits are often discussed as negatives in the self-help genre, but this author wants readers to use them to their advantage. He offers his own example as his primary evidence. However, you may see plenty more examples appear in your own life as you follow his principles.

The word “simple” fills so many of these pages for a good reason: If it is overly difficult for you to focus on a goal, explains Babauta, it is probably because you have made your approach too complicated. This two-part book goes beyond preaching principles to you; it shows you how to put them into practice. The reasoning behind the author’s strategies features in part one. In part two, you will learn how to tackle everything from time management to health and fitness by simplifying your plans. The guide concludes with some words of motivation to get you started.

When Babauta’s blog, “Zen Habits,” first took off, he received many questions from readers about his success in reaching so many of his goals. This book took shape from his answers to those people. While he includes some advice for specific situations in these pages, his goal in answering those questions was to provide a blueprint that people could apply to any aspirations that they may have. Readers do not need to be overachievers to benefit from this guidance. In fact, his process starts with breaking those thought cycles that stress you out about what you have or have not yet achieved.
